Man of God

But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.  –  1 Timothy 6:11-12

It seems as if every day is a struggle to be the man God wants me to be, and I know I am not alone in this struggle.  Everyday we are faced with temptations; sexually explicit ads, half dressed girls going to class, alcohol, you name it!  And as college students, we are also surrounded by people who give into the temptations, and even though they do not mean to, it makes it harder to resist the temptation.  Not only that, but we live in a society that condone and expect men to act a certain way.  So how do we escape this?

It’s easy, this guy named Jesus.  God knows that we will be faced with temptations every single day of our lives, but he gives us an escape in his son Christ.  Temptation is spoke of a lot in the bible, God knows that it will be a big problem for us and he explains to us how to defeat it.  The bible is full of answers to our everyday problems, if only we would look for them.

Matthew 6:13

·         And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Matthew 26:41

·         Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Revelation 12:9

·         And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world— he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
